The National Foster Parent Association is deeply saddened by the reports of events in Hoke County, North Carolina that took the life of two foster parents and their 17 year old foster son.

A big part of our mission is the support of Foster parents across the US, particularly in advocating for legislation and programs that provide core needs to these foster parents. Read our Advocacy Position Statement and Priorities here.

One of the most important core needs is access to quality mental health care – every person who steps up to provide a home and care for a child in need makes a difference in their lives, and deserves every advantage possible.

We extend our condolences to the family of the victims, and resolve to redouble our efforts as advocates and supporters of the parents who provide foster care when it’s most needed.
