Continuing Education Scholarship

The National Foster Parent Association Continuing Education Scholarship was established to benefit former foster youth who are currently enrolled in a college or technical school.  One continuing education scholarship is available each year.

Application Open:

January 28, 2019

Submission Deadline:

April 5, 2019

Acceptance Notices:

April 29, 2019

Requirements

  • complete the online application form (paper forms are not accepted)
  • submit the application and all attachments by 5:00 PM Central on April 5, 2019
  • an essay in 300-500 words on "How my foster care experience has impacted my educational goals"
  • all documentation must be submitted using the required online form
  • must be or have been in foster care through a through a US public welfare agency
  • must be currently enrolled in college or technical school
  • are planning to continue college or technical school in the 2018-2019 school year
  • must return unused portion or appropriate percentage if withdrawing from college/program or do not maintain grade point averages required by the institution
  • incomplete applications will be disqualified

Application

This application is to be used by youth whom emancipated or aged out from foster care at age 18 or older.

The NFPA believes in the importance of family-based care for foster children and that every child deserves support and a permanent family.
