2020 Conference Scholarship Application

Conference scholarships will be awarded to 24 foster, adoptive, or kinship caregivers to assist in attending the National Foster Parent Association's (NFPA) annual education conference.

Each scholarship is worth $500 to be used for expenses in attending the 50th Annual Education Conference, Together Toward Tomorrow,  June 18 - 21, 2020, in Reston, Virginia.

The conference scholarship application opens on Monday, March 9, 2020, at 8:00 AM central, and the deadline to apply is Friday, May 1, 2020, at 5:00 PM Central.   Scholarship awardees will be notified by Friday, May 15, 2020.  The funds will be available to you after you have paid the registration fee and arrived at the conference.

  • You must be a member of the NFPA to apply for this scholarship.  If you are not a member, you can click here to join right now, then return to complete this application.  NFPA board members and their spouses are not eligible for this scholarship.
  • You will need your NFPA member ID.  To find your member ID, log in to the NFPA website at http://nfpaonline.org/Sys/Profile.  You will see your Member ID listed as a 7 or 8 digit number.

Scholarships Awarded

    • Helen Stone Memorial Caregiver Scholarship Fund:  10 conference scholarships will be awarded in honor of Helen D. Stone.  To learn more about the Helen Stone Memorial Caregiver Scholarship Fund, please visit the NFPA website.
    • Sponsored Conference Caregiver Scholarship Fund:  14 conference scholarships will be awarded with support from the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption.

Timeline

    • Application Opens:       Monday, March 9, 2020
    • Application Closes:       Friday, May 1, 2020
    • Notification:                  Friday, May 15, 2020

More Information

    • Incomplete applications will be disqualified.
    • NFPA board members and their family members are not eligible for this scholarship.
    • Scholarships are not awarded to those that have received a scholarship from the National Foster Parent Association in the last two years.
    • You must be a member, in good standing, of the National Foster Parent Association.  If you are not, you can join here
    • You must be a current, or previous, foster parent, adoptive parent, or kinship parent.
    • You will have five days after notification to register and pay your conference fees or the scholarship may be awarded to another applicant.
    • If you are selected for a conference scholarship and will not be able to attend the conference, immediately contact Sharon Holman at 800-557-5238 so the award can be re-allocated.
